This fall we have our first class of students enrolled in Aquarium Science at Williamsport Area High School. Twenty-four students are learning about aquarium system design & maintenance, fish breeding and coral propagation. We've partnered with the PA Fish and Boat Commission as a Trout in the Classroom site and' we're raising brook trout from eggs to complement our freshwater and saltwater systems, giving our students exposure to many types of aquaculture. See a video of them here!

Tanks in Schools

We lead the way in school reef education programs

Our society's main mission is reef conservation and education. We spread the word about responsible reefkeeping through our Tanks in Schools program. Teacher volunteers are trained in reefkeeping and share their knowledge with young people every day. Read more about the Tanks in Schools program by clicking the link near the top of the page.

Read the article about our program in Coral Magazine.

program director speaks on "rescuing the reefs"

Larry Flint was a featured speaker at the TedxWilliamsport event on October 24, 2012. His talk was on the relationship aquarists have with coral reefs and how we can work to rescue the reefs. Not only can we serve to educate people about the fragile nature of reefs, we can even create entire reef aquariums without removing life from the ocean. Our society's Tanks in Schools program is at the forefront of reef education in classrooms with our sustainable reefs. Read more here.
